2014 in pics. Where we went and what we did.
A quiet month – as January always is – but this was particularly so. We’d retired, sold the house and were living in a large, comfy rented flat overlooking Pontcanna Fields whilst we adjusted to a life of leisure. Most days we walked, and this is Michael at Blackweir.
FEBRUARYIt was pretty cold that month, our last month in Cardiff. We’d found our new home and now we just had to wait for the legal wheels to turn.
MARCHWe took ourselves off to the Gower peninsula for a day to enjoy the early spring sunshine
And then we were in! Sort of…
…and here it is, nestling amongst the trees
APRILWe tore ourselves away from the DIY and travelled to Rome for a week. The weather was certainly better! Michael and Alex here on the Via Appia Antica
MAYWe started to explore the high lanes above Crickhowell
And welcomed the three girls to the new family home for the first time. At Glanusk Park
JUNEWe also started exploring churches and cathedrals – well, why not? There are plenty of them! Effigies in St Mary’s Priory church, Abergavenny
The church of St Catwg, Llangattock
Celebrating my birthday with afternoon tea at Gliffaes hotel with Alex and Michael…
…and again the following day with Michael, Alex and Katie
SEPTEMBERWe took a trip to Lyme Regis…
…and London…where I took a trip of a different kind the following day in Richmond Park, resulting in bilateral fractured radial heads. No pictures of those here!
OCTOBERWe stayed close to home that month. Glanusk Park again
NOVEMBERThe furthest north I’d ever been! Nothumberland, at Hadrian’s Wall
DECEMBERDecember looking exactly the way it should!
A good first year. The house was starting to look and feel the way we wanted, the village and the area were already exactly what we wanted and hopefully the girls were starting like it as much as we did. What more could we ask?
